SEATTLE EMPTY BOWLS POSTER BOWL Competition - Official Rules

Contest Description: The Seattle Empty Bowls Poster Competition is a contest in which participants create and submit a bowl to be used on a promotional poster for a the 2013 Seattle Empty Bowls event. The Contest begins on October 15, 2012 and ends on December 31, 2012.

How to Enter: Entrants may submit their bowl by dropping it off in person at the Ballard Community Center before December 31, 2012. Entrants may submit a fully-fired and glazed bowl, or may get a blank bisque bowl (unpainted and unglazed) and glaze paints from Seattle Empty Bowls and return a painted bowl for Seattle Empty Bowls to fire no later than December 31, 2012. Entrants may also submit a bowl made of other materials such as metal or wood. Please contact us through to arrange for a time to drop off entries or to pick up a blank bowl and paints.

The winner’s bowl will be used on the poster for our next event, currently scheduled for Spring 2013. The winner will be credited on the poster and their website may be listed if desired. The bowl will be featured in the silent auction along with a copy of the poster. A $50 Gift Certificate for QFC/Fred Meyer will also be awarded to the final winner.

All submissions will be evaluated by the officers of Seattle Empty Bowls. The Judges will evaluate Submissions based upon the following criteria:

Clarity of Design for Reproduction, Beauty, Subject Matter related to or in keeping with the objectives of Seattle Empty Bowls, Helping your Neighbors, Strengthening Community, Using Art for a Good Cause.

Five bowls will be selected from the entries and will be posted for online voting through the Empty Bowls Facebook page. The final winner from among the five semi-finalists will be selected by voting no later than January 31, 2013.

By submitting a bowl, you grant Seattle Empty Bowls the right to use, publish, reproduce, display, for non-commercial use, and without compensation to you. Further, by entering you represent that your Submission is your own original work created by you, is true and verifiable and that you own or otherwise control all of the rights to your Submission. By entering the Contest, each entrant waives any and all rights he or she may have to the Submission.

By entering the Contest, you consent to the Seattle Empty Bowls use of your name, and use, reproduction, and display of your entry for any advertising and promotional purposes relating to the Contest, in any media now known or hereafter devised, without further notice, compensation, consideration, review, or consent and without regard to moral rights.

Submissions may not invade the rights of publicity or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon a person's personal or proprietary rights. Submissions that are deemed by the judges in their sole discretion to be immoral, obscene, profane or not in keeping with Sponsor's image will be disqualified.

Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest if continuing with it becomes impractical for reasons beyond its control.
